Four of us went to the London/Komoka area to see where CP, CN, and GEXR meet.
Woodstock, Ontario
(map) The CP Galt and CN Dundas subs meet here, as do highways 401 and 403. It is a busy place.

Steve, Chris, and I went up to Ingersoll to meet up with Walter and learn our way around the not exactly quiet area of Ingersoll and surrounding area.

A day of railfanning, hell or high water. That was the plan - and high water we got! It poured all day but we started at about 07:30 and went through until about 19:30 - 12 straight hours of railfanning in, mostly, Ingersoll.

Steve and I headed up to Ingersoll for the day. We caught 26 trains, though missed photographing a couple of them. The Telus engine came through unannounced at a healthy 80 miles per hour and we missed the Illinois Central Operation Lifesaver unit while chasing a CP train on the St. Thomas sub. We saw 4 CP trains and all of them were powered by 2 GP9s.

Laura and I tried to go to Ingersoll for the day and found it dead as a doornail. After several hours of boredom, we headed for home and the parade finally started. We went on to the small community of Creditville where we watched the parade until we got too hungry.

We went to get Jay at Woodstock and spent the rest of the day mostly in Ingersoll watching what there was to see. CN 271 had a UP in second, and 399 had a UP and a CSX engine. Not a bad day on the foreign power front.

Jay, Chris, Steve, and myself met up with Walter in Ingersoll. For the first time, I attempted to take pictures of the same trains with two cameras at the same time, one angled for approach, the other for going-away shots. The photos were then renumbered against the time-stamps to try to put them in order, until I discovered that the two cameras' clocks were out of synch. I figured the two cameras were 26 seconds apart, and that is what this sequence is based on.

Greg warned of CN #399 with a war bonnet leading, so we went west for him, getting distracted by CP trains along the way. We caught CP #241 at Killean and again at Woodstock where it and #159 met #240, stopping at Zorra for CP #158 and finally heading down to Ingersoll for CN #385, CN #399, and VIA #73.
