In spite of bad weather, we decided to see what was running on this Thanksgiving day. We saw a few trains but, interestingly, caught NS #328 at Hamilton West at 17:30, much later than its usual 08:00 passage, with 2 UP units light power.
Guelph Junction, Ontario
(map) Technically Campbellville, Guelph Junction is the junction of the Guelph Junction Railway -- currently serviced by OSR -- the CP Hamilton sub, and the CP Galt sub. It is between Milton and Galt on the CP Galt sub.
CP #424 comes through the Junction.
Bayview Junction, Ontario
(map) This is where the CN Oakville, CN Grimsby, and CN Dundas subdivisions meet at a great big wye, beside which is the CP Hamilton sub. This location encompasses CN Bayview Junction, Hamilton West, and Hamilton Junction.
CN #145 passes the lookout at Hamilton West.
CN #434 comes off the Dundas sub.
VIA #75 passes with 2 units and 9 cars, showing for the increased Thanksgiving traffic.
CN #382 comes off the Dundas sub with three units.
VIA #76 comes off the Dundas sub with Via 910 and 5 LRC coaches.
NS #328 passes with 2 UP units running light several hours late.
(map) This community straddles highway 401 from West of Guelph Junction to Killean on the CP Galt sub.
CP #153 crosses Victoria Road with 2 white SOOs as the detector at 42.6 reports the train free of defects.
