We went to Puslinch for CPs 147, 240, 142, 198, across to mile 30 for CN 435 and 384, up to Georgetown for lunch and CN 422, GEXR 432, CN 392 and 393, back to Guelph Junction for CP 424, another 198, 141, and 243 with two UPY GenSets and across to Ayr for 243 setting off those same UPY GenSets for a reason that remains a mystery to me and London Pickup, catching CP 241 at mileboard Killean on the way home.
(map) This community straddles highway 401 from West of Guelph Junction to Killean on the CP Galt sub.
CP #147 pulls into the siding at Puslinch for three eastbounds.
CP #240 heads for the Junction.
CP #142, the frame train, flies by.
CP #198, the first of two on the day, heads for Guelph Junction.
Scotch Block, Ontario
(map) Scotch Block is an excellent photography location at mp 30.0 CN Halton sub, between Milton and Georgetown.
CN #435 uses the assistance of rocket engines to get down the hill.
CN #384 slowly lumbers up the escarpment toward its next stop at BIT.
(map) Georgetown's CN Silver is the site of the junction between CN's Halton sub and the CN-owned, GEXR-rented Guelph sub. It is between Guelph and Brampton on highway 7.
CN #422 passes Georgetown station.
GEXR #432 comes off the Guelph sub and holds at the Credit for CN #392 to pass.
CN #393 heads west.
Guelph Junction, Ontario
(map) Technically Campbellville, Guelph Junction is the junction of the Guelph Junction Railway -- currently serviced by OSR -- the CP Hamilton sub, and the CP Galt sub. It is between Milton and Galt on the CP Galt sub.
CP #424 comes off the OCS with MMA 1 near the end of the train.
CP #198 comes off the OCS with a mere 100 axles.
OSR switches around at Guelph Junction.
CP #141 departs begin/end CTC sign Guelph Junction.
CP #243 heads up the OCS with a pair of UPY RP20GE GenSets five hundred miles and two weeks into their journey.
(map) Ayr is between Wolverton and Cambridge on the CP Galt sub and houses a small backtrack yard and the Ayr Pit Spur.
CP #243 sets off UPY 2689 and UPY 2690 at Ayr passing track.
CP London pickup passes UPY 2690 and UPY 2689 at Ayr.
(map) This is CP's name for the passing track at Cambridge on the CP Galt sub.
CP #241 heads west toward Killean with a somewhat excessive 5 units.
